Free Pre-Conference Workshop
GHI Workshop, 14 November 2009
Information is now available for the pre-conference workshop ‘Harmonizing Genetic Toxicology Testing: Application of Short-Term Cytogenetic Assays’. Organised by GHI, this free one day course offers a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with the general scope and aims of genetic toxicology, and will offer a technical hands-on portion which will acquaint participants with two established cytogenetic assays that are applicable for both basic as well as applied science research programs.

23 Aug: Full programme announced
The full programme for the 2009 EFFoST Annual Conference is today announced. At the conference, 50 speakers will present on the processing, safety and sustainability aspects of food preservation. The oral programme is accompanied by a large poster session.

13 July: FP6 Integrated Project NovelQ Pre-conference workshop
The workshop is part of the ongoing activities of the NovelQ science platform to increase the quality of PhD research activities involved in the novel processing domain. It will be the first collective presentation of NovelQ research data at an international conference. See the programme pages for more information.
Abstracts and awards deadlines extended
22 June: Submit abstracts and applications by 31 July 2009
The deadlines for abstract submission and nominations for the Student of the Year and the Outstanding Achievement Award have been extended to 31 July 2009.

Outstanding achievement award
5 Feb: Call for nominations
Nominations are currently invited for the EFFoST Outstanding Achievement Award to be presented at the conference. The purpose of the award is to give recognition to individuals whose life time work has contributed significantly to enhancing European competences in Food Science and Technology. The organizers are pleased to announce the following two initiatives to encourage student attendance at the conference: 50 free student places and the 2009 Student of the Year Award. The deadline for nominations for both awards is 30 June 2009. Further information and applications forms are available via the student programme pages of the website.

Online registration for the 2009 EFFoST Conference is now open. Delegates are advised to register by 11 September 2009 to take advantage of reduced delegate rates.

12 Jan: Online submission now open for poster presentations
Online submission is now open for abstracts for poster contributions at the 2009 EFFoST Conference. Posters are invited which cover new developments in all aspects of food preservation especially those of processing, safety and sustainability. The deadline for submission is 30 June 2009.

2 Jan: Budapest, Hungary to host the next EFFoST Conference
The 2009 EFFoST Conference will take place in Budapest, Hungary, 11-13 November 2009. The conference – which is organized in association with IUFOST, METE, KEKI, EHEDG and FISEC will focus on new developments in food preservation.
